London, September 10, 2012 - The International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) in collaboration with the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI) jointly organized an International thematic workshop at the SNR Denton London office, which had kindly hosted the event. The workshop was attended by nearly 100 including speakers and participants from various countries - among others UK, Italy, UAE, Malta, Malaysia, Libya, Gambia, USA, and Indonesia - to extensively deliberate on the issue of “Legal Compliance versus Moral Responsibility in Islamic Finance”.
ISRA Thematic Workshop (ITW)
London, December 12, 2011 -The International Shari’ah Research Academy For Islamic Finance (ISRA) in collaboration with the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance London (IIBI) conducted a one-day conference in London. The event was sponsored by SNR Denton and jointly organised by IIBI and ISRA. The theme of the conference was “Form and Substance in Islamic Finance - Challenges, Problems and The Way Forward”. The workshop was attended by participants from Germany, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, UAE, Malaysia, Nigeria and London, local Shari'ah scholars and officers, legal practitioners, academicians and post-graduate students in Islamic finance.
Kuala Lumpur, July 12, 2012 – The International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) jointly collaborated with Malaysia Takaful Association (MTA) organized a takaful thematic workshop at Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad, Kuala Lumpur. The event is hosted and sponsored by Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad (STMB). The workshop aims to provide an overview of takaful shariah audit programme and to create a working committee for takaful shariah audit programme. In total, there were 50 participants attended the workshop comprising the Internal Auditors, Shariah Committes, Shariah Department from Takaful and Retakaful Operators and also representatives from The Central Bank of Malaysia. The welcoming remarks were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin, Executive Director, ISRA.
Kuala Lumpur, October 18, 2011 – The International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) in collaboration with Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) conducted a half-day Thematic Workshop on Permissible Risks in Takaful on 20 Zulkaedah, 1432 H (18 October 2011) at Theatrette Academy Ikhlas and was hosted by Takaful Ikhlas Sdn. Bhd. The workshop was an event supporting the Islamic finance agenda by serving as a platform for takaful experts to discuss the Shari‘ah issues concerning permissible risks in takaful institutions. They further explored the challenges faced by takaful institutions in determining permissible risks and discussed the proposed parameters on the permissible risks in takaful.
